How to Lose Weight in College With These Quick Tips

The college years are probably one of the most challenging parts of a person's life. Challenges seem to just come pouring in one by one - academic problems, personal needs, financial concerns and the like. Unfortunately, this is also the time when you may start struggling with your weight problems as well. This is primarily because you are faced with a lot of stressful situations, which is when you often find yourself munching on all the foods you see. But there are still a lot of ways to lose weight while in college.

College life may always tempt you to solely depend on fast food chains for your meals. This is one common problem because you cannot find a way to cope with the demands on your studies while in college, so the easiest and quickest way to feed yourself is through these locations. But if you want to lose weight, you should not always eat at fast food chains. Foods sold in these stores are usually fatty and cause your body to bloat, and eventually become obese.

Time is one of the most precious things in college life. Skipping meals will just encourage you to eat a lot during your next meal, which will not be a great help when you are on a diet. As often you can, eat on time to lose the weight that you want to get rid of.

If you are living a few blocks away from you school, you may use the distance to help you burn fats on your body. Try walking every day to help strengthen your muscles in addition to burning calories. This is just a simple step, but if you make this a routine, the results will certainly benefit you.

Instead of stuffing your room with unhealthy chips and sweets, have vegetables and fruits. When you are feeling hungry, you can make healthy choices. If you choose to have fruits as snacks while you are studying, you will not only lose weight, but you will also supply your mind with the nutrients needed to work.

Do not get caught up with the challenges of college life. Gaining weight will only happen if you are not carefully watching what you eat and do not pay attention to your health. But once you have decided to make healthy choices, losing weight will not be difficult, as your body will begin to cooperate with your efforts.

What if you can't lose weight! If you simply can't lose weight, you need to check this out Diet Strategies That Work.

What to Look for When Checking Out Weight Loss Supplements

Getting weight loss supplements isn't like shopping for clothes. It's not the "one-size-fits-all" type and certainly not one you choose because it's expensive and everybody else uses it. Sure, popularity defines what is apparently the best but then again, not everything is always what it seems to be, especially when it comes to what you put in your body.

For one, you have to be aware of the safety risks because one wrong move could be the end of it all. The next thing you need to do is to research and gather all the information you can about a particular product before going ahead and buying it so that it won't be a total waste of your time and money. And more importantly, you have to know if it really works or not and the only way to do this is to get qualified medical advice so you can get weight loss supplements that will really work for you and help you achieve your fitness goals in no time.

So what do you need to do to find the best weight loss supplements? First, you can take advantage of all the internet has to offer because with anything and everything available online these days, you will be able to find what you're looking for with a lot of patience and only a few minutes. Second, search online for reputable sites that list down all the ingredients contained in the weight loss supplements they sell along with details about possible side effects along with the benefits of each.

Of course, finding the right sites is an exercise in trial and error but then again, this is why you need to browse through their customer testimonials and reviews because these are honest opinions of people who've actually tried and tested the products. It is also important to find sites that are run by actual experts so that you know you are in good hands and you are getting your products from people who understand what you are going through.

Next, you need to find the all-important ingredients that you must have in order to lose weight the right way. Bodybuilders are prime examples of people who need to lose weight, build up their energy and stamina and maximize their metabolism, something that weight loss supplements are supposed to do. In this light, you will need to look for those that contain calcium, fiber, conjugated linoleic acid or CLA, green tea extracts and whey protein to name a few. Calcium is said to help you lose fat while preserving muscle while fiber helps suppress your appetite by making you feel full longer because it delays gastric emptying.

CLA on the other hand, helps you lose body fat and increases lean muscle mass. It is found primarily in beef and dairy products so it is especially a helpful supplement for vegans. Green tea extract, as you know is an antioxidant that helps you lose weight primarily by adjusting resting energy usage and increasing your energy due to catechins, caffeine and theanine that it contains. Its other weight loss benefits include reducing blood pressure and bad cholesterol or LDL. And last but not the least, whey protein helps build muscle and is the easiest type of protein to digest. You'll need all your strength and power to do intense exercise routines and whey protein is the best one to help you do it.

As far as actual weight supplements go, orlistat and meal replacements like bars and shakes have been medically proven to really help you lose weight. Meal replacements can substitute for breakfast and lunch as per prescribed usage, enabling you to enjoy a portion-controlled meal of around just 500 calories. Orlistat on the other hand, blocks about 25% of calories from fats, making it an effective diet supplement and is also easily available over-the-counter which is why many people are taking to this particular supplement these days.

And to make absolutely sure you are getting safe and trusted weight loss supplements, you need to check if they carry the USP seal since the vast majority of products sold are not regulated by the FDA. Check with your doctor before taking any kind of supplement and avoid any products that contain an excessive amount of caffeine since it can cause increased heart rate and blood pressure.

How Much Exercise Should You Get Every Week

You may have wondered what is the recommended amount of exercise you should strive to get each and every week. According to the American Heart Association, they recommend getting at least 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) a week of moderate-intensity, or 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes) a week of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity.

By definition an exercise that is considered at a moderate intensity level is an activity that will increase your heat rate and breathing rate. You may sweat, but you are still able to carry on a conversation. The CDC defines this as 50%-70% of maximum heart rate.

Examples of moderate intensity level activities: brisk walking, easy jogging, elliptical trainers, bike riding, leisure swimming, water aerobics, doubles tennis, gardening

An exercise of vigorous intensity is an activity where you are breathing rapidly and only able to speak in short phrases. Your heartrate is substantially increased and you are likely sweating. The CDC defines this as 70%-80% of maximum heart rate

Examples of vigorous intensity level activities: racewalking, hiking uphill, running, cycling more than 10mph, fast lap swimming, heavy gardening, singles tennis, sports with a lot of running like soccer, basketball, and hockey.

Knowing the specific differences between moderate and vigorous activity levels, along with the time recommendations the American Heart Association suggests capable individuals get on a weekly basis, you can now better plan how you will fit exercises into your agenda.

Nevertheless keep in mind especially when just starting out that it's imperative that you take it slow. You want to develop regular consistency each and every week at a gradual pace so that your body gets used to the increase in physical activity.

You want to make sure that whatever activities you decide to do regularly, moderate or of vigorous intensity, that you do not overdo it.

If it is a sport that you are unfamiliar with, be sure to get proper instruction from someone who is qualified to teach you correct technique. By learning how to properly play a sport you will help prevent injuries and be able to reduce the amount of time it takes to learn the sport so you become adept more rapidly.

But what if you're tight on time and can't devote an entire hour to a workout? Then be creative and break up your activity into smaller increments such as 3-10-minute blocks.

For example you could walk briskly for 10 minutes around your office building in the morning, at lunch, walk 10 minutes up and down the stairs, and finally walk briskly 10 minutes around your work place at the end of the day. You have just completed a 30-minute workout!

Weight Loss Hype Has To Go

There is no longer a demand in the weight loss industry for hype. Consumers are sick and tired of monstrous promises with no delivered results. This is starting to catch up with many weight loss companies because they've pretty much maxed out their promises to a point where there's no where left to go.

If you're as sick as me about hearing things like take off 20 lbs in 2 weeks, or lose 10 inches off your waist in less than a month, then it's about time we told the advertisers that we're fed up and don't want to hear it anymore.

There's really only one way though that we the consumers are going to accomplish this task. Vote with the almighty dollar. If the consumer base really wants the weight loss industry to deliver real promises, real programs, and real results, we have to stop falling for the weight loss BS. The next time we see an infomercial promising us crazy results overnight, we have to sit back and think about it for a minute. Is that even possible?

And that's where they get us don't they. Many consumers are still willing to shell out $50 or $100, or even $500 for a quick fix solution to our weight control problem. Here's the worst part. Many of these programs provide short term results, so they are right in saying that John lost X lbs or Melinda took off X inches off her waist. Then behind closed doors many of these so-called testimonials just rebound and put the weight back on once they get off the diet or exercise routine.

So what can the weight loss industry do better?

Start working on real changes to the way our population lives. Help them help themselves instead of providing band-aid solutions to an epidemic that's growing at an accelerating rate. The main reason why so many children are having weight issues is because of the lifestyle that the parent's provide for them. That's right... the child isn't choosing what they eat or what they do most days. It's somebody's job to look out for them. Their parents, right?

But maybe it's not their parent's fault either. If they're parents don't have a lifestyle conducive to maintaining a healthy weight or choices, they simply pass that on to their children. So let's just start by educating the moms and dads out there to make smart healthy lifestyle choices and they will in turn pass that on to the next generation.

Let's work on lifestyle changes together. This way we'll give our future generations a fighting chance.

Breaking All Those Bad, Unhealthy Habits

Sometimes gaining an excessive amount of weight can be attributed to bad habits that develop over years of living in an unhealthy manner. These bad habits become so automatic, we don't even realize the damage we are doing to our bodies until someone such as a doctor advises us to lose weight due to health concerns.

If losing weight is now a priority in your life, like it has become in my life, one of the first things you must do is take a look at the manner in how you live. You may be surprised at some of the bad habits you may have developed when it comes to how you live your day to day life. I was sure surprised and a bit embarrassed when I stopped to analyze what I did on a regular basis.

If you want to have any chance of truly losing weight and getting into shape, then you will definitely need to change some of the bad habits. For example, I used to regularly stop and eat fast food 3-4 times a week after work as I was driving home. At the time I really didn't consider this manner of eating bad, or detrimental in any way. It was just my dinner.

This was one of the most important bad habits I needed to break especially since most times when I would frequent one of these places, it was generally to get a double bacon cheeseburger, large fries and large soda. To make matters worse, since you are permitted to refill your drink when you dine in, I would usually drink two or sometimes even three large sodas while eating my meal. Add up all those calories and that one meal was well over 2,000+ which is more than enough for an entire day's worth!

That was one terrible, bad habit that I got myself used to.

I had grown so used to this routine, I would simply eat this way four to five times each and every week. Now that my focus is on eating healthy and exercising regularly, these types of fast food meals are a thing of the past.

Another bad habit that I found myself needing to correct was snacking while watching television or a movie. I used to regularly eat chips, ice cream, or other unhealthy snacks while sitting on the couch watching my favorite weekly tv shows or when watching a movie on a cable station.

If you stop and really think about the enormous amount of unhealthy calories consumed during these snacking scenarios you will see how quickly the total can pass the 1,000 calorie mark. To make matters worse, this is not even considered one of the main meals of the day!

That hand and mouth go into automatic mode and pretty soon you end up with an empty bag, box, or container sitting in your lap. Has that every happened to you before?

This is definitely another bad habit that needs to be stopped if you want to be successful losing weight.

When you are positively ready to start tackling the process of losing weight, in addition to eating in a more healthy manner and getting regular exercise, you need to identify possible bad habits that you may have. You will be much more successful when you ensure that you cover all the aspects of weight loss and not let subtle yet detrimental situations creep into your healthy agenda.

Take full control of every decision that crosses your path on a daily basis and you will see the weight start dropping off your body the way you want it to. When you are able to rid yourself of those bad habits that help lead towards obesity, you will find yourself in better control doing what is healthy and positive for your life.

Is The Weight Loss Calculator Method The Best Approach?

Many people are confused on weight loss methods and so it is very easy for them to be led down the wrong road by unscrupulous peddlers of all sorts of mumbo jumbo systems that just cause more confusion! Some of the weird and wonderful methods I see make me scream.

Having said that, let's get down to the real truth. Yes it is possible get deeply involved in a calculator approach to weight loss and get a result, but who wants to get bogged in that sort strict regimen when there are easier ways to do it? You see, the more involved and the more complicated the system used to shed weight is, the more likely there will be failure.

If you are using a calculator approach, that means you have to weigh or measure everything, and then keep a food diary so you can record your progress. Now if you are weighing and measuring food, that also means you are following a particular regime and menu, and often there is food in the mix you don't like, and invariably you will be left hungry.

But now things get worse. If you are left hungry, that is a signal by your body that it is starved for nutrients. Almost invariably, such a program will involve pumping weights or pounding the pavements, so now you are asking your body to do more work on less fuel. The result: yes you will lose weight, but at a huge cost in three ways.

The first cost that 'more work on less fuel' causes is your body will seek the nutrients it needs from wherever it can get it; so it robs your muscles and your vital organs, especially your heart, liver and lungs. This is serious and death from heart attack is not uncommon in this situation.

The second cost that 'more work on less fuel' causes is that this sort of regime means you tend to plateau after a couple of weeks, so it becomes much harder to stick to the program.

The third cost that 'more work on less fuel' causes is the mental strain on your psych and in time undermines your determination to continue. That explains why dieting regimes involving a level of hunger almost always fail. The failure rate is around 99%!

Now ask yourself: Do really want to go through all that hassle? Do you really feel comfortable taking that serious health risk with your body, knowing that it is the only one you will ever have? Do you really want to steel yourself to raise the willpower needed for that sort of regime? Do you really want to have all that hassle knowing there is a statistical near certainty that you will fail?

Now I mentioned earlier that there is a better way. The first rule of successful weight loss is never allow yourself to feel hungry. Being hungry is always a dreadful feeling and hunger is the prime cause of you losing heart and giving up. So if you can eat as much as you want, how do you lose weight? Easy.

Change what you eat! If you are overweight or obese, then you have been eating the wrong foods (there is no other cause known), and that is far more important than how much you eat. Once you identify those foods and stop eating them, you will be astonished to find your fat melting away seemingly by itself with hardly any effort or will power on your part. Such a regime is also founded on superb nutrition and nothing else, so your health is not only safeguarded but will dramatically improve. Many diseases you may have now will disappear automatically and future diseases avoided.

This really is a win-win situation. We are talking about a weight loss eating program that dieters love and doctors endorse. There is a wide range of foods available that you can choose from (over 40 plus all fruits and vegetables) so you will never bored or hungry.

I hope that has helped you understand that safe easy weight loss is possible.
